16 Helix in stone
Reducing stress through planning and collaboration
An ambitious master planning effort was initiated with the aim of modernizing a surgical department at University Pittsburgh Medical Center that had not been updated in 40 years. The hospital needed to adapt to advancements in medical technology and remain poised to adapt in the future.
The renovation included 16 operating rooms, 43 perioperative cubicles, a satellite pharmacy and a pathology lab. New spaces were created for patients and families, one being an intuitive new entry sequence starting at the elevators and guiding individuals into the waiting area and throughout the department. Staff workspaces were relocated into the surgical suites to create a more cohesive environment for collaboration.
Cramer has provided multiple orders to UPMC, this most recent one being 16 Helix chairs in stone.
